FOOD NOT BOMBS: YOGYAKARTA

Why Food Not Bombs?

Since the beginning , FNB was a protest against the massive amount of resources allocated to weapons and the military, while a large part of the world doesn't have enough to eat.

What are the principles of FNB?

  • Participation and consensus: All participants in FNB are involved in decision making and working together to realise the decisions made. It is the responsibility of every individual to be committed to consensus decision making and the functioning of the FNB collective.
  • Anti-discrimination based on religion, race, sex, or sexual orientation.
  • Volunteers: participation in FNB is entirely voluntary.
  • Veggie power: FNB has a tradition of simple vegentarian food
  • Non violence: Poverty and hunger are forms of violence against people by political and economic elites. We protest the allocation of resources for weapons and military for war when there are still people starving.

What happens at FNB?

FNB participants look for locations to distribute food which is cooked from ingredients that have been collected from left overs of shops, restaurants, markets etc.

Who is involved in FNB?

Whoever agrees with the principles of FNB is welcome to be involved, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation and political opinion.
